Times are tight. If you are engaged, planning a marriage proposal, or getting married soon, wouldn't it be swell to win a diamond and platinum wedding band set? Better still, how about receiving a free honeymoon cruise through the Caribbean?
Here is your chance: Jewelers of America, with help from the general public, will award a wedding ring and cruise grand prize this summer. All you need to win is the most amazing marriage proposal story out of all the entries. And, even if you don't win the grand prize, if your story is good enough to get you to the contest finals, you will receive a jewelry prize.
Ultimate Proposal Contest Seeks Best Marriage Proposal Story
Sponsored by the Jewelry Information Center (JIC) – the consumer education segment of Jewelers of America – the second annual "Ultimate Proposal Contest" is scheduled for spring 2011. According to a JIC press release, the contest represents a nationwide search for the best proposal story. Contest information and entries may be found at participating Jewelers of America retail stores between April 4 and June 20.
Jewlers of America retail members include independent jewelers as well as big-name stores, such as Kay, Zales, Jared, Tiffany, Cartier, and many more. All Jewelers of America retail members are eligible to participate, however, participating stores must register online at Jewelers.org. As a special incentive for retailers to participate in the contest, retailers registered by March 15 will be entered to win a prize of their own – an iPad, sponsored by GE Money.
Pearl Necklaces Awarded to All Contest Finalists
Contest finalists will be announced on May 31, 2011. Each finalist couple will receive a graduated freshwater cultured pearl necklace by Imperial. Then, between May 31 and June 20, the public will vote online for their favorite proposal story.
Last year's winner was a woman from Ohio whose entry "Gloves at the Shoe" told the story of how her boyfriend "snuck" them into the Ohio State University football stadium in Columbus, Ohio, which is nicknamed "The Horseshoe." When he proposed, he had the ring on the finger of a pair of wrapped-up Italian leather gloves.
This year's winning couple will receive a seven-night Caribbean cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line, sponsored by CMC-Meridian. Also, the couple will receive two platinum and diamond wedding bands from MaeVona, courtesy of Platinum Guild International.
Referring Jewelers and Jewelry Sales Associates Win Prizes
According to the JIC release, the jeweler referring the winning story will win a trip to New York City to attend the JIC's GEM Awards during January 2012. Moreover, each week during the contest, the sales associate who refers the most stories will win a $50 Visa gift card, courtesy of GE Money.
It goes without saying that every offer of marriage is a personal, unique, and memorable occasion. All you have to do is recount your remarkable proposal story to a participating jeweler, and you could add a cruise and diamond wedding rings to a lifetime of special memories.
